DAVID SCHNAUER

David is a retired lawyer, who lives in Auckland.

A 5th generation New Zealander, David  is the quintessential baby boomer- born in Auckland on 19 December 1949.

David obtained degrees in both law (with honours) and economics from Auckland University.

He was unsuccessful National Candidate for parliament in both 1984 and 1987. His wife Patricia become an ACT MP from 1996-1999. Apart from the period while Patricia was in Parliament, David and Patricia established and ran a legal firm together on Auckland’s North Shore.

David has had a lifelong interest in politics and economics; but has long since moved on beyond partisan party politics.   Concerned with the long term direction of his country, and frustrated by New Zealand’s poorly functioning democratic system, David decided to use the Covid lockdown, to write a book outlining his views on where New Zealand is right now; and the long term policy areas he sees need changing.
